Exportation saves food insdustry in 2015
Exports grew 6% up to €26,000 million, which supposes a new record and makes up for the weak domestic demand.
Food industry had a final turnover of €94,935 million in 2015 according to the data produced by The Spanish Food and Beverage Industry Federation, FIAB. This figure means an increase of 2% regarding the previous year. Exports grew 6% up to €26,000 million, which supposes a new record, opposed to the weak domestic demand.
Exports increased up to €25,442 million and they represent 10.2% of Spanish goods sales abroad. Spain, with this figure, is the sixth exporting country in Europe and the tenth at the global level.
European countries are still the main destination of agri-food sector's sales, with a 68.7% market share in France. Italy, Portugal, United Kingdom and Germany are at the head in Europe, but it can be also highlighted the remarkable sales increase to United States, China and Japan. Meat and derivatives, wine and oil continue in the leading positions of exportation.
