Spanish food industry searches for opportunities in Iran
It has been a few months since Iran recoverd its relations with USA and with the occidental world. Many sectors have seen a new growth opportunity during this new diplomatic period and one of them is the food sector.
From today to Thursday the International Sector Fair is celebrated, Iran Food, in Teheran. Although it has been celebrated for 23 years, this is the first edition after the external opening of the country. This context opens up opportunities to worldwide companies and Spain will have an important participation with the attendance of about twenty companies among which it can be highlighted Ybarrra and Juver.
FIAB, the sector management, has been the organizing association of the Spanish collaborators in the fair. "It has never been an open market but the current circumstances offer an opportunity for the products from here". Ignacio Garamendi, business development manager, states.
Garamendi remarks the importance of a market "with more than 80 million of potential consumers". Last year Iran represented about €16 million for Spanish companies with a growth of 15% compared with the previous years. Oils, 38% of exports, fruit conserves or cocoa powder are some of the most demanded products.
